WHCA NEWS

Dr. JonesEffective immediately, Dr. Richard Jones is appointed Superintendent of White House Christian Academy.  This is a new chief administrator position that will combine his current role as Principal with the duties and responsibilities of the President.  During the past few months, the Board of Directors had assumed the responsibility of the President, which it will now relinquish.

We are pleased that Dr. Jones has accepted this expanded role, which we believe is in the best interests of the teachers, parents, and students of WHCA.

Sincerely,

David Bauer, Chair WHCA Board of Directors

caleb walkerCongratulations to Caleb Walker, a junior at White House Christian Academy, who has been accepted to the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Humanities. Caleb will spend 5 weeks on the campus of the University of Tennessee at Martin where he will earn 6 hours of college credit as he explores various topics in fields such as philosophy, literature, history, and culture. “I am incredibly excited about this news. Caleb is a phenomenal student who has been blessed with a great mind. This will be an experience of a lifetime for him. We are also excited because we have never had anyone from our small school apply to Governor’s School. For Caleb to be our first applicant and to be accepted is a huge accomplishment,” says Becky Boyd, teacher and college counselor at WHCA. The selection process is very competitive as the committees search for intelligent, mature, highly-motivated students. In fact, Caleb is one of only 82 students in the state accepted to attend the Governor’s School for the Humanities. Caleb said, “I’m excited about the privilege to be one of the select few to participate in this prestigious program.” The State of Tennessee sponsors 12 different Governor’s Schools for gifted and talented sophomores and juniors to promote and encourage intellectual studies.
